We are a friendly and welcoming Bowls Club situated on the south side of King George Vth playing field in Trumpington, at the corner of Byron Square and Foster Road. We play outdoors from the end of April until the middle of September.
We play in the County Mixed Triples, the Cambs and District, and the Mens and Mixed Business House Leagues.
New bowlers are always welcome, if you've never tried and would like to give it a go, give us a call, it's a nice friendly game with a good social side.
We also play Carpet Bowls in the Bowls Pavilion from the middle of September to the middle of April, this is on a friendly basis on a Wednesday evening from 7pm. Should you wish to give it a go, just turn up and you will be made very welcome. The club has a wheel chair to enable disabled persons to partake in the game of bowls.

Bowls Drives.

Open Days

Presidents Day will be held on Sunday 4th August 2019, this is a Mixed Fours Competition.

History of The Bowls Club from 1920-2017

The History of the Trumpington Bowls Club
Photos from the past show the Trumpington Bowls Club operating from various sites in the village in the years 1913 to 1920. This started on a makeshift green at the rear of the Green Man Public House.
A subsequent improved site of the Bowls Club happened in about 1920 on the green adjacent to the Unicorn Inn in Church Lane.
At that time Trumpington was still a village with a population of about 1000 persons and having 221 homes.With the Inn close at hand serving Dales beers, together with a fish and chip shop in the outbuilding, a home match was virtually assured of local spectators!
Play continued at this site for about the next thirty years until a new bowling green
was established by the City Council in 1953 on the King George V playing field
resulting from the post war expansion of the village.
The old green subsequently became a car park and remains as such to this day.
The new site at Byron Square was the home for the Trumpington Bowls Club until 1988 when it became the University and Trumpington Bowls Club and provided the bowling facilities for members in the University.
In year 2000 the bowling facilities were no longer required by the university members and the club name was changed back to the Trumpington Bowls Club. Starting around this time (information required please) the City Surveyors bowls club were also based at the present green until 2009 when their club was disbanded.
The Trumpington Bowls Club continues to play on the green at Byron Square and with the population of Trumpington expanding considerably over the next few years, it should continue to attract new members.

MEMBERSHIP DETAILS

The Trumpington Bowls Club membership year is from 1st April to 31st March. Intending members are invited to join at any time during the year. Membership is open to both Ladies and men of all ages. The bowling season starts in May and continues until the end of September.

The Annual Membership fees (2019/2020) are as follows:-

Full Membership........£50.00

Associate Members....£ 5.00

Competition Fees £1.50 per person per competition.

There are NO additional Green Fees to pay.
